Why I can not send anybody a message?
Most likely the status of your profile is not "Active". Meaning if you have just registered and administrator of site didn't yet activate your profile. If you have used dating services for a while then you must have changes some info or put new photos on. After that your profile still was to be checked by administrator. Usually it doesn't take more then 24 hours. As soon as your profile is active you can send and receive messages absolutely free. (More info on profile status you can read on page 2.10)

I decided to share my humble experience and write these tips for you to find a good free online dating site. Perhaps my experience will help someone.
1. First of all you should make up your mind what kind of relationship you are looking for. And you also should point out for yourself where it should be (I mean a geographical region). Your sexual preference is also important. If you are a lesbian or gay you`d better find some special sites as ordinary dating sites offer few homo profiles.
2. Forget about paid dating sites. There are lots of free dating sites which are as good as paid ones. However you mustn`t pay a cent. I`ve got an impression that paid dating sites spend members` on ads rather than on site improvement. You can send messages on both (paid and free) dating sites, but you should know that there are more active members on free dating sites that on paid ones. It can be explained by the fact that a user shouldn`t pay for membership to write letters. In the previous message I wrote that paid dating sites often attract new members concealing from a user’s view that there are many paid services or promising free trial membership. A user who realized that his membership was not free anymore often stopped using it. However, in most cases people forgot to delete their profiles. Thus many paid sites have a sticking database but one can find that there are 20 or even 30 times less ACTIVE members. I think that free dating sites are better as paid dating sites don’t offer anything different from free dating sites.
3. Now start looking GOOD free dating sites. If you seek international dating I recommend you to use Google or Yahoo search engines and write phrases “free dating”, “free online dating”, “free dating site”. If you want to find a friend or sweetheart within the boundaries of your country it’s better to use a search engine which is considered to be the best one in your country and type searching phrase “free dating” in your mother tongue. Besides you may also ask your friends if they know good local dating sites or you may also try by searching phrase “free dating in (name of your town in your native language).
4. You may save the first two or three pages of results from a search engine and you’ll get a so-called “list of contenders”.
5. Don’t register on the first dating site you see. Be careful! Turn to another site immediately if you see something like “100% free registration”, “Get matched for free”, “free search” or “Add your profile for free”. Paid dating sites usually hide under the mask of free ones. I can say that paid sites never write on really visible parts of pages that you should pay for their services and how much you must pay. Anyway you shouldn’t waste your time on those paid sites.
6. On a good free dating site there is nothing to hide from you. For this reason I can’t tell that all free dating sites are good as some of them don’t give you sufficient information at once. I mean that some of them show you not more than 10 pages with search results if you are not a registered member, others hire the details of a profile you are interested in. They do all those things just to make you register.
It seems to me that you won’t focus your attention on that site as you register only to bate your curiosity. Imagine such a situation: you are interested in a man who looks very attractive but a dating site doesn’t allow visitor to see large photos; they show pictures of men and women in a very small size. You register, look at the man’s photo and find out that you don’t like him at all. Precious time is lost  .
7. If a site doesn’t limit your opportunities you can look through its database and decide whether the site is worth registering. I think that one of the most important things you should pay attention to is a quantity of users, as your chances to find love reduce twice if few people hang up on this site.
It is also quite useful to look how many people join a site every day. You may usually find this statistics on the home page of dating sites. Don’t forget about scammers. For example a great number of attractive men in their thirties seeking for 40-60y.o. women seem quite strange. Most of those men are scammers. They would likely tell you strange lachrymose stories and then ask you to help them financially. I advise you not to register on the sites where there are too many profiles of handsome men and beautiful women.
8. A site is good if YOU are at ease using its search and writing messages. Besides, it is wonderful if there is chat, matchmaking system and some interesting things like psychological tests. Frankly speaking I don’t believe that matchmaking system works in fact. Programs can not be better than your emotions; it can’t feel what you are feeling looking at this or that profile. People often don’t know what their ideal partners should be like. Anyway it is very funny to see who is your ideal for 95% partner according to matchmaking system results.
That’s all! If you use my recommendations you’ll surely find a good free dating site where there are lots of attractive men and women, very few scammers!
