Don't go if something doesn't feel right.
by bookwormlady,Jan/29/2010There is another warning I want to share with you. It is not about a dishonest people or a dating scam. I’ve made friends and had a talk with one Filipina in a chat. She told she had met someone through a dating website and she was planning to travel overseas to meet the person she had been communicating with. They discussed her staying in a country for a long period. She was offered a good payment. It would be an opportunity to help family and build a better life. He promised to arrange the travel and paid for visa, meet her in airport, rent a comfortable apartment and give money for living. Nothing didn’t look frightening. The person was charming and polite. He answered her questions. His replies seemed genuine except the one why he approached her through a dating website. It looked suspicious. She was afraid if something went wrong. His passport photo wasn’t a proof as well as a contract sent through messenger. His promise of money was not a proof too. I understand why an offer like this can be tempting. Many of us work hard, take care of parents, children and siblings. When someone offers a large payment, overseas travel and the possibility of a better future, it can be hard to lose the opportunity we've been waiting for. But before making a step because someone you met online promised you love or a new life, stop for a moment. Verify everything before any commitment, don't hand over your personal documents to people you met online, tell someone you trust about the offer. No money is worth placing yourself in a situation where another person may control you.
