2. Profile

2.1 How to start using LuvFree?

Just take a few minutes to create a profile and get full access to our services. After signing up, you will receive a notification message with a link to your email address. Click at the link or enter a code to confirm your email. We need to make sure the email address you provided is valid. Once you get a new message or a kiss in your onsite inbox, you'll be notified by email. If you do not want to receive notifications, you can turn them off at any time. Once your email address is confirmed, your profile will be reviewed and approved. It usually takes us 1-12 hours. Unfortunately that is the only way to filter out the scammers.

2.2 Is it necessary to fill in the full join form?

Filling in the short join form with your details is enough to get access to our services. We advise you to add a picture to your page. Statistics show that profiles with photos are viewed ten times more often. The full sign up form looks quite long, but it allows other singles to get to know you better and contact you much easier. Tell people about yourself and your lifestyle. An interesting and detailed description will increase your chance to meet the right person. Please note we do not accept adult personal ads. Once your email address is confirmed, your profile will be reviewed and approved. It usually takes us 1-12 hours. While your profile is in approval status, you will not be able to send kisses or messages. Waiting for approval, you can choose the suitable settings for your page: public/hidden profile and photos, public/hidden last login, local/worldwide contacts, yes/no casual contacts, rating photos and profile comments. Do not forget to click "Save" after editing your profile page. You're free to edit your page any time by clicking "My profile". Please note if you change any of the following: username, date of birth, about me description, my match description or upload a picture, your account automatically gets approval status. You can delete your profile at any time by clicking the "Delete" button in the "My Panel" section of your profile or by sending us a message through our contact form.

2.3 I am trying to fill out the registration form, but I keep getting an error telling me that my email address is being used by another member. Why?

It's possible that you have already created a Luvfree account using that email address. If you have forgotten the registration data for that account, you can attempt to recover the password for that profile by clicking the "Forgot Password?" link next to the password field on the "Log In" page. (Read more on 3.1 page) Please remember that the only way anyone could use your email address to make an account on Luvfree is if they have access to your email account. We always ask you to confirm your email address as part of our registration process in an attempt to prevent anyone from using an email address that is not theirs. (You can get more info on this procedure on page 2.11)

2.4 I am trying to fill out the registration form, but I am getting an error about an invalid security image code. Why?

If you don't see the security Captcha image while filling out our registration form, that likely means it is being blocked by your internet browser. This could be due to a setting you have enabled or disabled in your browser (blocking images for example) or it could be due to a browser add-on you have installed. You will have to determine what is blocking it and remedy the situation in order to proceed with the registration. You will not be able to complete the registration form until you can enter the correct security image code in the field provided.

2.5 I have filled out the registration form, but I did not receive a confirmation email. Why?

There are a couple possible reasons for this. It could be that you accidentally submitted an incorrect email address, so please double check to make sure that you typed your email address correctly. It's also possible that your email client has put your confirmation email into your spam folder, so make sure to check there as well. In that case, make sure to mark that email as not being spam so any further email notifications from Luvfree will appear in your inbox instead of your spam folder in the future. (More info on this you can see on page 8.7)

2.6 How can I change info in my profile after submitting it?

Changing info in your profile is easy and can be done at any time. Adding/subtracting information, correcting errors and adjusting a wide array of options for personalization of your profile can be done by going to the "My Profile" page. To access this page, just log in to your LuvFree account and you will go to this page automatically. If you are already logged in, you can click "My Profile" which is located in the navigation tabs at the top of the page. Once there, you can click on any of the categories there to reveal your profile details and allow you to change or adjust them as you see fit. After you are done editing your profile, please make sure to click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page so the changes you have made will take effect. You will know this has happened if you see a message saying "Profile has been updated" after saving your changes. If you receive a message telling you that errors were found, please correct those errors and save your changes again.

When you first go to your "My Profile" page, please take note of the information below the "Save" button which tells you that making certain changes to your profile will result in your account being put into approval status. This means that your changes must be reviewed, approved and your account activated by the LuvFree administration team before you can continue interacting with other LuvFree users. Please review that information carefully and keep that in mind while making changes to your profile. Approval status lasts between 2-12 hours. (See section 2.10 for more information on your profile status.)

2.7 How do I change my email address?

To change your email address, begin by logging in to your LuvFree account and go to your "My Profile" page. Click on "E-mail & Notifications" where you will see your current email address in the first field. Enter your new email address here and click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. After changing your email address, your account status is changed to "Unconfirmed" status and a confirmation email is sent to the new email address. After confirming your new email, your profile will be accepted and must be reviewed by the LuvFree administration team before it can be activated again. (See section 2.10 for more information on your profile status.)

2.8 How do I change my username?

Your username is the name people see on your profile. To change your username, log in to your LuvFree account and go to your "My Profile" page. Click on "Personal Details" and you will see your username in the first field at the top. Simply type in your new username and click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. Changing your username will require approval from the LuvFree administration team before it can be activated again. (See section 2.10 for more information on your profile status.)

2.9 How do I change my password?

To change your password, log in to your Luvfree account. Go to your "My Profile" page and click "Authentication" to reveal a "Change password" button. Click that button to change your password, then click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

2.10 Status of profile: Unconfirmed, Approval, Active, Suspended, Rejected.

The current status of your profile can be seen by going to your "My Panel" page and looking in the "Manage Profile" section in the upper right corner of the page. Simply log in to your LuvFree account and you will automatically arrive at this page. There are five profile statuses: Unconfirmed, Approval, Active, Suspended and Rejected. Your profile status indicates your current level of access to LuvFree services and the visibility of your profile to other members of the Luvfree community.

  • Unconfirmed: This status means that you have not confirmed your email address. You are required to confirm your email address after completing your registration form to sign up for a LuvFree account or if you change your email address at any time. (More info on confirming your email address and why it's important can be found in section 2.11) If your profile is in Unconfirmed status, it means you do not have access to LuvFree services and your profile is hidden from all members in the Luvfree community. In order to remove Unconfirmed status from your account, you must confirm your email address by going to your email account and following the directions in your confirmation email from Luvfree. If it is not in your inbox, make sure to check the Junk/Spam folder as well and mark that email as not being spam so future emails from LuvFree will appear in your inbox instead. If you did not receive a confirmation email, please use our contact form and let us know about it. Make sure you move to resolve this issue quickly because if your account remains in Unconfirmed status for more than 24 hours, your account will be deleted. After you have confirmed your email address, your account will enter Approval status.

  • Approval: This status means that your profile is waiting to be approved by the LuvFree administration team. There is no need for you to do anything more except wait for your account to be approved. This generally takes between 2-12 hours, but you will not be able to send messages to other LuvFree users while in this status. However, you can upload photos and add any other information to your profile that you like while waiting for approval.

  • Active: This status means that your profile has been approved and you will receive an email from LuvFree welcoming you to the community. It also means that you now have full access to all LuvFree services! Don't forget, we put "Free" in our name because that's what our services are: Free! Absolutely free.

  • Suspended: This status was created for your convenience. If for any reason you want to temporarily hide your profile, you can put your profile into Suspended status. Doing this is very easy. Log in to your LuvFree account and you will end up on your "My Panel" page. In the upper right corner in the "Manage profile" section, you will see three buttons there. Clicking the "Suspend profile" button will send your profile into "Suspended" status. Your profile will now be unavailable in searches and for sending/receiving messages to/for all LuvFree members including those on your Friends List. While in this status, you will still be able to browse profiles of LuvFree members as well as add photos or otherwise edit your profile information. You can remove your profile from Suspended status at any time by clicking the "Activate profile" button on your "My Panel" page.

  • Rejected: This is not a status you ever want to see on your profile. If your profile is in Rejected status, it means that LuvFree administrators have found you to be in violation of our Terms of Use or we have received complaints from other LuvFree users. You have basically been banned from using LuvFree services and it will be very difficult or impossible to get this status removed. Please be respectful to other members of our community and follow our rules. By doing so, you will never see this status on your account.

2.11 Why is it necessary to confirm your current email address?

LuvFree has a notification system which notifies you of newly received messages, virtual kisses, friend requests and any status changes to your profile among other things. To get those notifications, you need to have a valid email address to send those notifications to so you will always be updated and your privacy will always be safe. Therefore, it is important that you confirm that the email address you have submitted during registration is valid and belongs to you.

2.12 Why are profile statuses necessary?

Profile statuses are needed for the purposes of providing information on your current account rights to LuvFree services. They increase the stability and safety of the site and also helps us to eliminate fake profiles created by scammers. The "Suspended" status was created for the convenience of LuvFree users.

2.13 How do I hide or make my profile invisible?

To make your profile invisible to all LuvFree users and visitors, log in to your LuvFree account which will take you directly to your "My Panel" page. From there, click the "Suspend profile" button in the "Manage profile" section on the upper right corner of the page. While in Suspended status, you can browse the site anonymously and no one can see your profile and you will not be allowed to send or receive messages to/from any LuvFree users including ones on your Friends List. You can remove Suspended status at any time by clicking the "Activate profile" button in the same place.

2.14 How can I view my own profile as it appears to other users on LuvFree?

There are two ways to do this. The easiest way is to log in to your LuvFree account and once on your "My Panel" page, look in the "Manage profile" section in the upper right corner and click the "View profile" button. The second way is to use the search function. Click the "Search options" link in the Quick Search box to the right of your "Manage profile" section and use the "Search by Username" function at the bottom of the page. Type in your username to find your profile and view it just as you would with anyone else.

2.15 How do I add comments to the profiles of other LuvFree users?

You must be logged in to your LuvFree account in order to leave comments on anyone's profile. When you are not logged in, you are a visitor only and visitors cannot perform this action. Once you are logged in, simply go to the profile you want to comment on and go to the bottom of the page where you should see an "Add Comment" link. Click that to add a comment, then click "Save comment" to leave a comment which will appear at the bottom of that profile. Please note that the "Add comment" link can be disabled at any time by the owner of the profile and will not appear if they have disabled this feature. The profile owner can also delete any comment at any time they wish. This can also be done by a LuvFree administrator, so please be polite when you leave a comment.

2.16 How do I disable other users from leaving comments on my profile?

Log in to your LuvFree account and click the "My Profile" tab in the navigation panel at the top of the page and find the "More Options" section. The second slider in this section allows you to toggle this feature on or off. If you don't want other LuvFree members leaving comments on your profile, simply toggle the switch off. If you wish to enable this feature, you can toggle the switch on at any time.

2.17 How do I delete an unwanted comment on my profile?

Log in to your LuvFree account which takes you to your "My Panel" page. Once here, view your profile by clicking the "View profile" button in the "Manage profile" section in the upper right corner of the page. Once on your profile, scroll down to the bottom of the page to see your profile's comment section and click where it says "Delete" next to the unwanted comment and it will disappear permanently from your profile.

2.18 Can I put my contact details on my profile?

Yes, but we strongly discourage this practice. Putting your email address and/or mobile number on your profile page leaves you exposed to scammers, spammers and harassment which severely compromises your privacy and your safety. If you wish to give out that information, it is better to do so in private messages to someone you trust.

2.19 How do I toggle email notifications about new messages, kisses and other things related to my LuvFree account?

Log in to your LuvFree account and click "My Profile" from the top navigation menu and find the "E-mail & Notifications" settings. You can toggle your email notifications in this section individually. If you want no notifications at all, just toggle every option in this section off.

2.20 How do I delete my profile?

You can delete your profile at any time. If you choose to delete your profile, everything is deleted including your photos, friends list and all messages in your inbox/outbox without the possibility of recovery. To delete your profile, log in to your LuvFree account which takes you to your "My Panel" page. On this page, simply click the "Delete profile" button in the "Manage profile" section in the upper right corner of the page to permanently delete your profile. If you want to join LuvFree again in the future, you will have to create a new profile from scratch.

3. Problems with logging in to LuvFree

3.1 I forgot my username or password. What should I do?

When trying to log in to your LuvFree account, you will notice a "Forgot Password?" link next to the "Password" field. Click that link and then enter the email address you used to sign up to LuvFree. You will receive an email from LuvFree with instructions on how to reset your password.

3.2 How do I change my nickname?

Look up page 2.8

3.3 How do I change my password?

Look up page 2.9

3.4 I can't log in to LuvFree using the correct username and password. Why?

  • You entered your username or password incorrectly.
  • You must log in using English. If you have a different language set on your computer, please be sure you are typing your username and password in English.
  • Your profile status is "Rejected" or your profile has been deleted. Read more in the next section below.
  • If nothing is working and you can't figure out what the problem is, send us a message using our contact form.

3.5 What would cause my profile to be rejected or deleted?

Here are some reasons why your profile can be deleted:

  • You have more than one LuvFree profile which is in violation of our Terms of Use.
  • You either haven't confirmed your email address, failed to confirm it within 24 hours or you entered an incorrect email address and did not receive your confirmation email from LuvFree which contains instructions for how to do that.
  • You used a proxy server to register with LuvFree.
  • You typed gibberish in any of your profile field. You must enter valid and coherent information.
  • You used inappropriate, adult, explicit, sexual or offensive language anywhere on your profile.
  • Someone reported you.
  • You are under 18.
  • You are using LuvFree for commercial or advertising purposes.
  • You are conducting yourself poorly in your interactions with other LuvFree members. This includes engaging in harrassment, asking for nude photos and similar unwanted behavior towards other members.
  • We are not accepting profiles from Europeans or Americans living in Africa and Asia. Unfortunately, almost every one of these profiles are fake.
  • Due to a massive number of repeated violations of our Terms of Use from a specific country, we were forced to delete a number of profiles from that country. If your country does not appear in the registration form when signing up for a LuvFree account, it means we do not allow profiles from your country for the aforementioned reasons.
LuvFree reserves the right to delete any profile at any time with or without warning.

3.6 My password is entered automatically when I log in to LuvFree. Why?

This has nothing to do with LuvFree. If your password appears automatically in the password field when you log in, it's because you have told your browser to save your LuvFree password. In this case, your browser will automatically enter your password for you every time you log in. This is fine if you are the only person using your computer, but if there are multiple people using the same computer, we recommend that you do not allow this for the purposes of protecting your privacy.

4. Photos

4.1 Why should I upload my photos?

Adding photos to your profile gives other users a chance to see you before contacting you. Profiles with pictures get browsed ten times more often than ads without photos.

4.2 About uploading photos.

Uploaded photos are reviewed by the LuvFree administration team and we reserve the right to reject any photo at our discretion. Please use photos saved in .jpg format. There are no limits for image size as our system will automatically resize your photo to the dimensions required.

4.3 What are the guidelines for uploading a photo?

The guidelines are as follows:

  • Your primary image should feature you only
  • You must be in the photo and clearly visible
  • Person in the photo must match your stated gender
  • Do not use photos that contain logos for other websites
  • Nude, obscene, sexual or otherwise offensive photos will be rejected and deleted
  • Photos of cartoon characters and celebrities are copyrighted and will be rejected and deleted
  • Images with minors (children) can not be used as your primary image
  • Group photos can not be used as your primary image
  • No limits for file size or image size as our system will automatically resize them as needed
  • Images must be in .jpg/.jpeg format only. No other formats will be accepted.
If you can't upload your photo, you can email it to [Please log in to view e-mail] along with your username and we will upload the photo for you.

4.4 How do I upload a photo to my profile?

After logging in to your LuvFree account, you will automatically go to your "My Panel" page. In your "User Menu" found in the upper-left corner of the page, "Upload Photos" is the first menu option there which you will want to click on. This will take you to your "Add new photo" page where you can upload, remove and change your photos. If this is your first time uploading a photo, please be sure to read the information on this page before doing so. For your convenience, you can add a brief explanation in the "Title" field that will appear under each photo. After you are finished, click the "Save" button and wait for your photo to be uploaded to LuvFree servers.

If everything went right, you will see a message telling you that your photo has been uploaded. If there was a problem, you will see a message telling you that your photo was not uploaded. The most likely reason for this is that either your photo is not in the .jpg/.jpeg format. If it's not and you don't know how to convert it to this format, you can email the photo to us with your username to [Please log in to view e-mail] and we will convert and upload it for you. It is also possible that your photo has been damaged or corrupted.

Please keep in mind that each time you upload or change your photos, your account will be put into "Approval" status and will be reviewed by the LuvFree administration team. Once approved, the photos will appear on your profile as they were submitted and your profile will be re-activated. This process generally takes between 2-12 hours and you will be informed VIA email when activation is completed.

4.5 What is a primary image?

Your primary image is the first photo in your gallery. It is the photo that will be displayed automatically when someone views your profile, when your profile appears in search results or when you appear in the list of members that are currently logged in to LuvFree. Please refer to section 4.3 above for a complete list of guidelines for photos.

4.6 How do I change the order of my photos?

Log in to your LuvFree account and click "Upload Photos" in the "User Menu" located in the top-left corner of the screen. On this page, scroll all the way down to the bottom to find all of your currently uploaded photos in the "My Photo" section. To change the order of your photos, start by clicking on the photo you want to move which will make that photo full size in the middle of the page. Under that photo, you will see several buttons which will allow you to move the photo up or down in the order of your photos. If the photo you are moving is not your primary photo, there will be a "set as primary" button that will allow you to make it your primary photo. However, please keep in mind that changing your primary photo will cause your profile to enter "Approval" status to be reviewed by the LuvFree administration team. This process takes between 2-12 hours. If you have email notifications turned on, you will receive an email notification when your account has been activated again.

4.7 How do I delete photos?

Login to your LuvFree account and click "Upload Photos" in the "User Menu" located in the top-left corner of the screen. On this page, scroll all the way down to the bottom to find all of your currently uploaded photos in the "My Photo" section. Simply click on the photo you wish to delete which will cause that photo to be shown in full size in the middle of the page. Now, click the "delete" button to delete the picture shown. Photos you have deleted will be completely erased from the site.

4.8 What are private photos? How can I make one of my photos private?

Any photo that you have declared to be private will not be displayed publicly on your profile. The only users that will be allowed to see these photos are those that have requested access to them and that you have personally granted access to. To make one or more of your photos private, you will first need to log in to your LuvFree account. Click "Upload Photos" in the "User Menu" located in the top-left corner of the screen. On this page, scroll all the way down to the bottom to find all of your currently uploaded photos in the "My Photo" section. Now, click on the photo you wish to make private which will cause that photo to be shown in full size in the middle of the page, then click the "set as private" button under the photo. If at any time you want to make that photo public again, click the "set as public" button.

Please note that you cannot make your primary photo private, so this option will not be available for your primary photo.

4.9 How do I send or approve a request to view a private photo?

If you click on a private photo on someone's profile, you will get a system message telling you that you will need to request access to this photo from the owner of the profile and a "send a request" button under that. If you want to send a request to view that photo, simply click that button. If someone requests access to your private photos, you will receive an email notification if you have not turned off notifications informing you of the request.

Log in to your LuvFree account and click on the "Communicator" link in the "User Menu" in the top-left corner of the page. There will be a section here called "Private Photo Requests" which will list all requests for access to your private photos, users you have granted access to your private photos, all requests you have sent to other members to view their private photos and users who have granted you access to their private photos. All requests (both sent and received) relating to private photos can be viewed and managed here.

To respond to any request for access to your private photos, click on "Users who've asked for access to my private photos" to see the profile(s) of users who have requested access from you. You can grant them access by clicking the "Grant access" button next to the profile of that user. Your private photo can now be viewed by this user, but no other users who you have not granted access to in this way. Alternatively, you can delete the request if you do not want to grant access to that user.

4.10 How many photos can I add to my profile?

You can post up to 30 photos.

4.11 After adding a photo to my profile, the photo disappeared. Why?

Your photo violated our regulations relating to photo content and had to be deleted by the LuvFree administration team which we reserve the right to do any time our photo content regulations have been violated. Our guidelines on photo content can be viewed in section 4.3.

4.12 How do I rate photos of other members? Do the ratings affect anything?

Only LuvFree members currently logged in to their account can rate photos which means people visiting the site anonymously will not have this option available. When logged in, rate photos by clicking on your desired score (1 through 6) to reflect your opinion. The more you like the photo, the higher your rating score should be. After rating the photo, you will see the average rating and the quality of scores awarded to that photo by other members in the "Votes" section. If your photo gets a lot of high ratings, it will appear on the LuvFree home page as one of the top 10 highest rated photos on LuvFree!

Please note that the ability to rate photos can be disabled by the profile owner, so if they have disabled this feature, no one will be able to rate that photo and there will be no rating scores to click on.

4.13 How do I disable/enable the rating of my photos?

Once logged in to your LuvFree account, click "My Profile" on the menu that runs across the top of the page and find the "More options" section. Click on that to view many options that can be toggled on and off. The first option with a toggle slider allows to you toggle photo ratings. You can enable or disable this option at any time.

4.14 I can't upload any photos! Why?

The most likely reason for this is that your photos are not saved in the JPG/JPEG format and you must convert your photos to this format before you will be able to upload them. If you don't know how to do this, you can email the photo to us and we will convert and upload it to your profile for you. There is also the possibility that your photo is corrupted or damaged.

4.15 Okay! How do I email my photo to Luvfree?

If you can't upload your photo, email it to [Please log in to view e-mail] and a LuvFree administrator will convert and upload your photos to your profile within 24 hours. Be sure to include your username in the email along with your photo so we know whose profile to put the photo on!

5. Searching members

5.1 What is Quick Search?

The Quick Search feature is designed to make it quick for users to make new friends who do not mind their country of origin, age or anything else other than gender and the presence of a profile photo. It is located in the top-right corner of the majority of pages you will see while using LuvFree.

5.2 What is Advanced Search? How do I search for profiles based on country, city or zip code?

Compared to the previously mentioned Quick Search feature, Advanced Search has a richer assortment of search criteria which will allow you to narrow down your searches much more and can be accessed in one of two ways. You can either click the "search options" link in the Quick Launch section of the page located in the top-right corner or you can click "Search" in the navigation menu at the top of the page. You will have access to more criteria you can use to narrow down your search such as country, city, zip code and more! If you are searching for a specific user and you know their username, you can use the "Search by Username" feature at the bottom of the Advanced Search page to do that.

5.3 When using the Search feature, how does LuvFree sort the profiles that I see in the search results?

LuvFree will sort your search results by last login meaning users appearing at the top of your search results have the most recent login dates and are therefore more likely to be actively using LuvFree and therefore more likely to see and reply to messages.

5.4 How do I search for someone by username or ID number?

Simply visit our Advanced Search page by either clicking the "search options" link in the Quick Search box in the top-right corner of the page or by clicking "Search" in the navigation menu at the top of the page. Scroll to the bottom of this search page to find the "Search by Username" feature and type the username in the field provided. Profiles also have ID numbers which can be seen at the bottom of the profile page under the "last login" information. If you want to search by ID number, type it into the search field instead. If you have typed a valid username or ID number, that user's profile will appear in the search results where you can click on it and access their profile.

5.5 How can I search by major cities across the world?

For the convenience of all members in the LuvFree community, we have a "Free online dating in cities" block at the bottom of our Home page which lists many of the major cities across the world. Clicking on a city listed in this block will show you all profiles in the LuvFree database created by people residing in that city.

5.6 What is a "Hot List" and how do I use it?

The Hot List is a convenient way to mark profiles you like and it works in a similar way to your browser bookmarks. In the same way your bookmarks remember websites for you and allows you to access them quickly with one click, your Hot List bookmarks profiles you like so you won't forget them and can quickly view their profile if you want to send them kisses or messages.

If you want to add someone's profile to your hot list, simply go to that profile and click the "Hot user" button under their profile photo. That profile will now be added to your Hot List which can be viewed by clicking "Communicator" in the User Menu located in the top-left corner of the page. In your Communicator, you will have a "Hot List" section where you can view a list of users you have hotlisted and a list of users who have hotlisted your profile as well. You can access the profile of someone in your Hot List by clicking on it in the list.

6. Virtual kisses

6.1 What is the "Send kiss" feature and how do I use it?

Sending a kiss is a quick way to say "Hello" to someone or a quick way to hint to someone that you're interested in starting a conversation with them. The "Send kiss" feature is only available to people who have a LuvFree account and are currently logged into that account. This feature is not available to visitors, so make sure you are signed in to your LuvFree account and if you haven't signed up to LuvFree yet, what are you waiting for? Join our community today to receive all the features and benefits we have to offer all for FREE!

You can send a kiss by clicking the "Send kiss" button on that user's profile under their profile photo, but this feature is only available for LuvFree users who are logged into their account. You can browse profiles here using our Search feature which you can read all about in section 5 above.

You can also view a list of all users you have kissed and all users who have kissed you by going to your Communicator which is found in the "User Menu" in the upper-left corner of the page. Click on "Communicator" to see all of your profile stats which includes a "Kisses" category that contains the compiled list history for all of your sent and received kisses.

6.2 How do I toggle email notifications about new kisses?

While logged in to your LuvFree account, click "My Profile" located in the navigation menu tabs at the top of the page. Once there, click on "E-mail & Notifications" from the list which will show you several options you have for toggling email notifications. The very top option is for email notifications for new kisses which can be toggled on/off at any time by clicking on the toggle switch. After you have made changes, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

7. Friends list

7.1 What is a "Friends List" and why should I use it?

First, make sure you are logged in to your LuvFree account. You are free to send friend requests to other LuvFree users just as they can send friend requests to you which can be accepted or rejected by the recipient. Any friend requests that are accepted will add those LuvFree users to each other's Friends List. Your Friends List can be viewed in two ways. You can go to your "Communicator" located in the "User Menu" in the upper-left corner of the page where you can view your Friends List in the "Friends" category along with any pending friend requests. They/You can accept or reject friend requests and you can view any pending requests you have sent to other users.

The second way to view your friends list is on your profile page which can be accessed by clicking "My Panel" in the navigation tab menu at the top of the page and clicking the "View profile" button in the "Manage profile" section in the upper-right corner. Your friends list will appear publicly for any LuvFree user to see by default which is located at the bottom of your profile page.

If someone is on your Friends List, that means you can send unlimited messages to that user without restriction. For all users not on your Friends List, there is a 24 hour message limit that will apply and that 24 hour window moves along with the passage of time. The 24-hour window always starts 24 hours before the present time of the day and ends at the current time of day, so if a certain amount of messages have been sent in any given 24-hour window, you will not be allowed to send any more messages until the number of sent messages in the current window drops below the limit. Avoiding this limit is the main benefit of adding someone to your Friends List. Any messages sent to users before you added them to your Friends List will be automatically removed from your current sent message tally and will no longer count towards your 24 hour sent message limit.

7.2 How do I send friend requests? How do I manage my sent/received friend requests?

You must be logged in to your LuvFree account to send friend requests. To send a friend request to another LuvFree user, simply go to their profile page and click the "Send friend request" button under their profile photo. An email notification and "My Panel" notification will be sent to the user and they will be added to your "Users I've sent a friend request" list in the "Friends" section of your Communicator which can be accessed from the "User Menu" in the upper-left corner of the page. It is up to the user to accept or decline your request.

Alternatively, you can also see any friend requests that have been sent to you from other users in this section which you should have received a notification for in your email and on your "My Panel" page next to your profile photo in the "New friend requests" section. You can click on that and it will take you directly to your list of currently unanswered friend requests in your Communicator. Toggle as many friend requests as you want and click either "Accept" or "Decline" to apply the action to all selected friend requests.

7.3 How do I delete someone from my Friends List?

While logged in to your LuvFree account, go to your Communicator located in the "User Menu" in the upper-left corner of the page. In the "Friends" section, you can access your Friends List. Click the toggle switch next to any friend you want to delete from your list and click the "Delete from Friend List" button to remove all selected users from your Friends List.

7.4 How do I hide my Friends List from my public profile page?

First, make sure you are logged in to your LuvFree account. If you do not want your Friends List to be publicly visible, you can toggle it on/off by clicking "My Profile" in the navigation tab menu at the top of the page and opening the "More options" section. There will be a "Public Friends List" option which you can toggle on/off at any time. Turning it off means your Friends List will not appear on your profile page for public viewing. Make sure to click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page after you've made your changes.

8. Messages

8.1 What are the basics for sending/receiving messages and where do I find my Inbox/Outbox?

The first basic is that you must be logged in to your LuvFree account to use this feature. You can send messages to other users from their profile page by clicking the "Send message" button under their primary profile picture, type in your message and click "Send" and you're all done! You can view profiles by either using our Search feature or clicking the "Online" link in the "LuvFree Community" section on the left side of the page to see who is online right now. After you send a message, that user will receive an email notification and your message will appear in their Inbox and in your Outbox.

Your Inbox/Outbox can be found in the "User Menu" in the upper-left corner of the page. While in your Inbox/Outbox, there will be an option to "Group messages by conversation" at the bottom which will combine your inbox and outbox into one conversation for each user you are communicating with. This way, all sent/received messages will appear in one conversation instead of having your Inbox/Outbox separate. Which you choose is personal preference. In this case, you will see "My Messages" in place of your "Inbox" and "Outbox" in the User Menu. You can switch back to the Inbox/Outbox format by clicking the "Show messages in classic inbox/outbox" link at the bottom.

When a LuvFree user sends you a message, you will receive an email notification and you will see a notification on your "My Panel" page's "New messages' section, a notification in "Account Events" on the same page and a yellow envelope icon will appear in your "User Menu" next to "My Messages" or "My Inbox" depending how you have things set up.

8.2 What are some of the limits to messaging?

All LuvFree users are limited to sending no more than 30 messages in any 24-hour period and this is done to make it easier for us to keep spammers and scammers under control. We accept no payments to increase this limit since we do not accept money for any reason and it's right in the name: LuvFree is a FREE dating service, no exceptions. The only way to eliminate this limit is to add users to your Friends List. Any user who is on your Friends List can be messaged as many times as you wish with no limits or restrictions whatsoever. See section 7.1 for more details about your Friends List.

8.3 I cannot send any messages! Why not?

The only reason for this would be that your account status is not "Active", so check on your "My Panel" page while logged in to your LuvFree account and check the upper-right corner section "Manage profile" to view your Profile status. If your profile is in "Approval" status, you will not be able to send messages until the LuvFree administration team approves and activates your account which takes between 2-12 hours. If your status is "Suspended", you can simply reactivate your profile yourself by clicking the "Activate profile" button. If your status is "Unconfirmed" you need to confirm your email address as soon as possible. For more information on profile statuses, take a look at section 2.10.

8.4 Can I send my private contact details in a message?

Of course, you are free to send whatever information you want to other LuvFree users in private messages which can include email addresses, phone numbers, instant messenger contact IDs and so on. However, we would caution you to only give out this information if you trust the person you are communicating with. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users and your decision to disclose your private details to people as well as the potential consequences of doing so. Do so at your own risk and be smart about it!

8.5 I received a notification of a new message, but there's nothing in my inbox. Why?

The main reasons for this are as follows:

  • that user's profile has been put into approval/unconfirmed status
  • that user has put their profile into "Suspended" status (more info in section 2.10)
  • that user has deleted their profile
  • LuvFree administrators have deleted their profile due to violating our Terms of Use.
Be aware that profiles in approval, suspended or rejected status will not appear in search results or in any user's Communicator. Any messages in your inbox from those users will also become invisible until their profile status is "Active" once again. If you don't have a message in your inbox despite receiving a notification of a new message, it is because the status of that user's profile changed after the message was sent to you. Those messages will appear in your inbox once again as soon as their profile is Active again.

Our LuvFree administration team are always working hard to delete the profiles of scammers and spammers to maintain a high level of quality standards for members of the LuvFree community as well as to protect our users from these kinds of people. Of course, deleted profiles will also not appear and are permanently deleted from LuvFree as well as all of their messages.

8.6 How do I toggle email notifications about new messages?

While logged in to your LuvFree account, click "My Profile" in the top navigation tab menu and click "E-mail & Notifications" to open the toggle options. The very first option will be for notifications about new kisses or messages, so just toggle that option off to no longer receive those notifications in your email and click "Save" at the bottom of the page. You can toggle this back on at any time.

8.7 I stopped receiving email notifications from LuvFree! Why?

If you have stopped receiving email notifications from LuvFree and you have not disabled these notifications VIA your My Profile > Email & Notifications options, it is likely that your email server has started to dump your notifications into your spam or junk mail folder. Please check in that folder and if you see notifications from LuvFree there, you have to mark them as not spam so they will resume appearing in your inbox instead.

You can also add an email contact for LuvFree using the address [Please log in to view e-mail] which should whitelist all emails from LuvFree and keep them from going to your spam or junk folder.

8.8 I was having a conversation with someone and their profile suddenly disappeared from LuvFree! What happened?

This has happened for one of three reasons:

  • that user has deleted their LuvFree profile
  • that user has Suspended their profile (more info in section 2.10)
  • LuvFree administrators have deleted their profile for violating our Terms of Use.

8.9 If I delete a sent/received message, will it be removed from the inbox/outbox of the receiver? Can deleted messages be recovered?

No, the message will only be deleted on your end, but the person you sent the message to will still receive it normally. Likewise, any received message you delete will only be removed from your inbox, but will remain in the outbox of the receiving user. Deleting messages, whether sent or received, will only affect your inbox/outbox and never the inbox/outbox of the person you are communicating with.

Once a message has been deleted, it is gone forever and cannot be retrieved even by a LuvFree administrator. The message is completely wiped from our servers and cannot be recovered.

8.10 Can I see if a sent message has been read by the recipient?

While logged into your LuvFree account and in your inbox or group conversations (More info in section 8.1), you can see an envelope icon next to every message. If the envelope is closed, the message has not been read. If the envelope is open, this means the recipient has read your message.

8.11 I have not received a reply for my message and it has not been read. Why not?

It is possible that the user has not signed into LuvFree since you sent your last message as some users do not log in very often while others spend a lot of time on LuvFree.

If this is not the case, it may just be that this person doesn't want to communicate with you or maybe they are already communicating with someone. Ultimately, it is up to every user to reply or not reply to any message they receive. If they choose to delete your messages or not reply, that is their choice and there isn't much you can do about it. However, there are many other users in the LuvFree community to communicate with, so just keep looking and don't let it get to you. There's plenty of fish in the sea, as they say!

8.12 I'm not receiving any messages. Why?

If you want to increase your chances of getting messages, the #1 thing you can do is to upload at least one picture if not many pictures so that people can who they are talking to. It really goes a long way for people to be able to put a face to the person. It also helps to write something interesting about yourself on your profile for people to read when they view it. Being online a lot also makes it easy for other users to find your profile and of course, it never hurts to send a few messages to other LuvFree users and see if you can start a conversation that way.

8.13 Can I block other LuvFree users from messaging me?

Absolutely. You can block any individual users from sending you messages at any time for any reason. If you ever find it necessary to do this and you would like to block someone, make sure you are logged in to your LuvFree account and view the profile of the user you wish to block. Among the buttons below their primary profile picture, click the "Block User" button to block them from messaging you.

If you go into your "Communicator" which is found in the "User Menu" in the upper-left corner of the page, the very bottom section of your Communicator shows your Block List. You can view a list of users you have blocked and a list of users who have blocked you. If you wish to unblock a user that you previously blocked, go into your list of users you've blocked, click the toggle switch next to the profile you want to unblock and click the "Unblock" button. That user will now be able to send you messages again.

8.14 How do I report a user?

If a user is spamming you, trying to scam you out of money or harassing you for nude photos, you can report them to administrators. To do this, make sure you are logged in to your LuvFree account and go to the profile of the person you want to report. Find the "Report user" link under their primary profile photo below the button used for sending friend requests. You will then be given a comment field for you to explain the situation to us and click "Send" when you are finished. We will read your comment and look into the situation so we can decide if we need to take action. You can also use our Contact Form to contact us directly about the situation, but be sure to include identifying information about the user's profile so we know who you are reporting.

We will move quickly to delete profiles of these kinds of people and if a profile is deleted in this way, it is a permanent ban that cannot be revoked.

9. Communicator

9.1 Why is the "Communicator" needed? Where do I find my Communicator?

The Communicator is a collection of useful stats pertaining to your site activity arranged into categories and lists for your convenience. Using the communicator, you can keep track of several aspects of your activity on LuvFree which are listed below. You can access your Communicator by first logging in to your LuvFree account and clicking "Communicator" in the "User Menu" found in the upper-left corner of the page.

9.2 What information can I find in my Communicator?

You can find the following information in your Communicator:

  • Profile Views: You can see the accumulated lists of LuvFree users who have viewed your profile and a list of LuvFree users whose profile you have viewed.

  • Friends List: You can view your Friends List as well as lists for both sent and received Friend requests that are still pending. (More info in section 7.1)

  • Encounters: You can view lists of LuvFree users who want to meet you, users you have marked as wanting to meet using the Encounters feature as well as users you've been matched with.

  • Kisses: You can view lists of LuvFree users you have sent Virtual Kisses to and a list of users who have sent Virtual Kisses to. (More info in section 6.1)

  • Hot List: You can view lists for users who have added you to their Hot List as well as users who you have added to your Hot List. (More info in section 5.6)

  • Private Photo Requests: You can view lists for all things related to sent and received private photo requests as well as lists for such requests that have been granted. (More info in section 4.8, 4.9)

  • Block List: You can view lists of LuvFree users who have blocked you and users who you have blocked. (More info in section 8.13)

10. Blog

10.1 Why is there a blog here?

The blog was created so that LuvFree users could share their thoughts with other members of the community about life, their interests, tell stories or jokes and maybe ask general questions to whoever may be viewing the blogs at the time who may reply to your blog post. It is a way for people to learn more about other members without using private messaging and communicate with each other in a public forum. The blog is a completely optional feature of the site and even if you choose not to write any blogs of your own, you can read the blogs of others any time you want as it's a good way to find out more about them. You can edit/delete any blog post you create at any time and you can delete any unwanted comments on your blog made by other LuvFree members.

10.2 Great! How do I create a blog post?

Once you are logged in to your LuvFree account, there are two ways to create a new blog post. The first is to click "My Blog Posts" in the "User Menu" in the upper left corner of the page where you can view all of your blog posts. Create a new blog post by clicking the "Add a new post" link at the top. The second way is to click "Blogs" in the top navigation menu to enter the Blog section where the Latest Blog Post entries from all users are listed in order starting with the most recent. From there, simply click the "Add a new post" link just above the first Blog entry. From here, type in a "Title" for your post and type what you want to write about in the "Post" box. Make sure to read the rules which are summarized below the "Post" box and stay within those guidelines. When you're done writing, click the "Save" button at the bottom. Your new post will appear on your profile page and in the Blogs which are 100% public and can be read by anyone at any time. You can toggle on/off the ability for other users to leave comments on your blog posts.

10.3 How do I disable comments on my blog?

While logged in, click "My Profile" in the top navigation menu and click on "More Options" which makes an array of options available for you to toggle. The third option down from the top is for enabling/disabling comments on your blog posts. If you do not want other users to be able to comment on your blogs, toggle the slider off by clicking on it. You can enable comments again at any time by clicking the toggle again.

10.4 How do I delete the comment of another user from one of my blog posts?

While logged in, click on "My Blog Posts" in the upper left to view all of your blog posts. Find the blog post with the unwanted comment and click on the title to view the entire blog post and scroll down to the bottom to see the comments. Click "Delete" on the unwanted post to remove it permanently.

10.5 How do I edit/delete my blog posts?

While logged in, click "My Blog Posts" from the "User Menu" on in the upper left corner of the page to see all of your blog posts. You will notice links to "Edit" or "Delete" under each blog entry. If you wish to edit your blog post, click "Edit", make your changes and click the "Save" button. If you want to delete it, click "Delete", the post will be permanently removed from the site.

10.6 How do I read and leave comments on the blogs of other users?

All blog posts are added to the "Latest Blog Posts" section which you can access by clicking the "Blogs" link in the top navigation menu. The blog posts are ordered starting with the most recent. You can also see a list of blog posts from one specific LuvFree user by going to his/her profile page and looking on the right side of the page in the "Latest blog posts" section. You will see a brief summary of the last few blog posts made by that user and a link at the bottom of this section that leads to a full list of blog posts by that user if they have used the blog.

If you wish to leave a comment on someone's blog, you must first be logged in to your account. Go to the blog post you want to leave a comment on and click "Add comment" which is located below the blog post. Type your comment in the text field and click "Save comment" to post your comment. You can delete your comment at any time by clicking the "Delete" link next to your name and the date at the top of your comment. The author of the blog post can delete your comments for any reason.

Note that your comments cannot be edited either by you or the author of the blog post you're commenting on after posting it. If you wish to edit your comment, you can copy what you typed, delete your comment and then paste the text into the text field for a new comment and edit the content before saving it again. You can also just write a new comment from scratch.

10.7 I can't create a blog post or leave comments on blog posts! What's going on?

The most likely reason for this is that your account is not in "Active" status. Some possible reasons for this are that you have just signed up for your account and the LuvFree administration team has not yet activated your account which generally takes somewhere between 2-12 hours. If you have just added new photos or changed the content of your profile page, it will also need to be reviewed by the administration team before it can be activated again. It's also possible that you have suspended your account, so simply go to your "My Panel" page and click the "Activate profile" button to fix the problem immediately. You can see what your account status is from this page as well. (View section 2.10 for more information about profile statuses.)

If your account is "Active" and you still cannot leave a comment on another user's blog post, it is because that user has disabled comments on their blogs.

10.8 I added a blog post, but it disappeared! What happened?

The only way this would happen is if an administrator found your blog post to be in violation of the blog rules and deleted it.

10.9 I added a comment to someone's blog, but it disappeared! What happened?

Your comment was deleted either by the author of the blog you commented on or by an administrator who found your comment to be in violation of the blog rules.

10.10 Are the blogs moderated? What are the blog rules?

LuvFree administrators monitor the blogs and all comments in them. If you follow the rules and be respectful, there will be no problems. The blog rules are listed at the bottom of the page when adding a new blog post as well as below. The rules are as follows:

  • Be respectful to other members.
  • No offensive, insulting or explicit language/content. Offensive references to gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation are not allowed.
  • Mentioning other LuvFree members by name and talking about them negatively is not allowed.
  • The blog is not for criticizing LuvFree administration. Feel free to send us your suggestions and feedback here and we will be more than happy to talk with you.
If you break our blog rules your account may be rejected with or without notice.

11. Security and scam

11.1 Is it safe to meet people on LuvFree?

Millions of people are using dating sites to find friends and love. We are trying to make LuvFree a safe place to meet new people. To avoid being scammed, it's a good idea to avoid sharing your contact details with people you just met and never send money to anyone you meet online.

11.2 Do you sell users contact information?

No, we do not sell or share any of your contact information. Please do not type your email address, mobile number or any other personal contact information on your profile page. If you wish to share that information with someone, you are free to do so in private messages.

11.3 What are scammers and what do they do to scam people?

Scammers set up accounts on dating sites like this one and contact users asking for money after exchanging a few messages. They post attractive photos and engaging profiles using stolen or fake identities. They initiate conversations, ask personal questions, share false love stories and life details while using sweet words like "I love you" to make you feel that they are sincere and to make you feel comfortable.

For example, African scammers pretend to be white males who are traveling to other countries and will ask for money for a plane ticket or insurance certificate.

Scammers from Western Europe often ask for money in order to get a visa to your country and/or for buying a plane ticket to fly there.

Scammers from Asia will usually want money for medical bills either for them or their family members, load their phones or for food.

After getting your money, these people disappear shortly afterwards. Please visit our anti-scam page where we have more information about the tricks scammers will use. If anyone tries to scam you on here, please send us a report right away.

11.4 Is the person I'm talking to a real person?

We do the best we can to keep our community free of scammers. Unfortunately, we can't do background checks on the users of this site or have any way to know if the photos uploaded are really them. To make sure the person you're communicating with is real, it might be a good idea to do a video call with them on the messenger of your choice so you can see and hear the person you're talking to.

11.5 Someone invited me to go to another website to continue talking there. Why?

These people are usually trying to get you to join a paid dating site or marriage agency to try to get you to pay a monthly subscription fee. Others are trying to collect your personal information or infect your PC/phone with viruses. LuvFree is always free just like the name says and you won't get any viruses from here either.

11.6 A user asked me for my email address. Can I send it?

Sure, you can do whatever you like in private messages. The question that you must answer is should you send that information. You should only send personal information to people you trust and you do so at your own risk, so be safe.
