Do you actually read the profiles of those you are interested in? I usually do but I think most people don't. By reading the profiles you may be able to avoid someone who is not your match.
On the advice of a friend I decided not to ask for anyone more than 8 years younger or 8 years older than me. Therefore my profile says I am looking for a woman between 54 and 70 (8 years either side of my 62). Yet when I get messages I usually get them from people in their 20's or 30's. I'm willing to go outside my age range a little bit but not by much.
If I see a profile that says you are not religious or that you did not answer that question I will move on to my next interest unless I see that you are a Christian Somewhere else in your profile. If I'm Baptist and you are Methodist, Presbyterian or Catholic there may be room for compromise. I don't bypass those differences.
Generally my politics lean conservative but that's something else I can compromise on-at least to an extent.

I think that the standards we live by are a great way to judge those who we may have an interest in. Yes, I agree we should be somewhat flexible, but we need to maintain our standards for the most part. If we do not then I think we are headed for a breakup at some point in the future. Besides who wants to engage in a relationship that from the beginning has no chance at longevity. Not only will our hearts be broken, but also those who may be involved as well such as children connected to each party in the relationship. You have provided me a thought-provoking blog. One thing for sure, I won't go with someone YOUNGER than me anymore, They gave me nothing but sooooo much heartaches and headaches... Am done with that age range....
Good luck I have read profiles till I am blue. Some don't write a thing so you tell me who's trying to deceive who here. Most women not all but most I see are 4-7 words or have nothing but height, weight, Religion, the check the box things so read yep I have. Good luck.
That's true but if that's all they have, unless they have indicated they are a Christian, I bypass them. And frankly, I don't need to know their height or weight, it doesn't really matter to me, weight might a little.
