I wanted to be the girl smiling
beneath a black sombrero,
barefoot, dancing with the bulls,
dancing in the dirt to
the ghost clapped castanets.
Sonata of the dark earth,
blood earth of my veins,
my clay hands have touched the sky
and used its color to
paint my words.
I am the girl with a limp
dancing with accidents
in a place where
lost things gather
to sing.
